Woah. Where does the time go? We’ve been doing this so long now that this contest is practically an institution.  Say so long to 2015. Bring on the new year, and many more after that. We’ll still be here, rocking the freshest faces on the internet, and paying cash prizes for the best shots of the week.

Week 50 of the mygirlfund photo contest on Tumblr saw Christmas come and go, and brings us to the end of 2015. It’s all wrapped up! It’s been a helluva year, with so many new faces that it was hard to keep up. We’re busy organizing the effort for 2016, and we promise it will be a year to remember.

Welcome to the first week in 2016 of the Mygirlfund photo contest on Tumblr. The year got off to a roaring start, and our queue is already bubbling with new girls who are ready to throw down in the hottest photo contest on the web. As for the girls in 2015? They aren’t ready to call it quits just yet. Already last years favorites are making their mark over here on our tumblog.

Want to know how you can compete? It’s actually pretty easy. If you aren’t already an mgf girl, sign up here. Then submit your shots via email with your MGF name in the subject line. You will have to check the contest page on Mygirlfund for the email to submit to- Don’t send us submissions on Tumblr. Make sure you email them with your photo attached, and not embedded in the email.

Then your shot will land in our queue, and you will see it posted a day or two after that. Send up to three submissions a week, and focus on quality over quantity. With over 200 winners a year, you are bound to win some cash, if you are trying.  The exposure is great as well, (our fans are the best) and the community cheers you on in all our social networking channels. It’s win win for everybody!

Decisions, decisions! Week two’s contestants for the hottest photo contest on the web sure didn’t make our job easy this week. They flooded our queue with shot after shot, until we were positively overloaded with creative and gorgeous media to sort and choose from.  All in all? Couldn’t have been a better week, or a sexier start to another year of awesomeness from the girls of mygirlfund.

Natkittenxoxo picks up an easy first place crown for these two shower shots below. It was clever using the shower curtain to diffuse the light like she did. This sort of “light modeling” isn’t accidental.  In fact, both of our first place winners this week took the crown home for good intentional use of light and shadow. Week 3 melted away quickly, as #Blizzard2016 was pounding away at many of our girls on the east coast.  We thought for sure that we were going to receive more blizzard shots, but as fate would have it, it was just too damn cold to go outside. ;) We still received plenty of our warm and fuzzy indoor shots, as well as one standalone rebel who rode the fence in the winter air.

It’s all just another week in the sexiest photo contest on the web.

1/22-1/29 marks week 4 of the hottest photo contest on the web. One month in, and we’re all snowed in!  Good thing that our contestants have that adventurous spirit, and weren’t afraid to bring their cameras out into the cold and snow. As for us? We stayed inside and made this video for you guys to look at. It showcases some of the hottest non-nude shots of last year. We wanted to be able to put it on our youtube, so we decided to go with clothed, or mostly clothed shots. Somehow, we think it ended up hotter that way. 2/12-2/19 marks week 7 of the Mygirlfund Photo Contest on Tumblr. It’s been a close contest all week with girls magically syncing up in their styles and shots. Sometimes weeks just theme themselves. It’s a beautiful thing.

Have you noticed our unpredictable posting schedule lately? What do you think is better, consistent and daily, with ~ 10-12 shots a day, or every few days with ~20-40 shots? The post bomb draws more notes, and more followers- which is great for your exposure, but then again, waiting a few days to see your shot hit our page can be frustrating.  Which do you prefer? The first week of march in 2016 marked off week 9 of the most amazing photo contest on the web. There is really nothing else to compare it to for context. We’re the only contest of its kind serving up cash money prizes every week of the year for the sexiest and most creative photos. You can go see us over on our tumblr to get a sense of what we mean. The submissions are prolific, and our girls are the sweetest and sexiest anywhere.

Week #10 did it again, with the queue bubbling up with goodness that you can only find cooking over on the Mygirlfund photo contest tumblog.   We could give you the list of shiny adjectives that describe this contest, or you could just head over there yourself, and be glad for a change after you subscribe to something.  ;)

Week 12 was downright torrential. So many new girls hit our queue that we scrambled to even keep up. Exactly how we like it. Maddisonmwah. This brand new girl got a NatGeo worthy underwater shot. The dark exposure contrasting with the light coming through the water is perfect. Most would have over exposed this shot, but someone got it dialed in just right. If you have ever shot underwater before you know how difficult this is to achieve. The interesting thing about this picture is that there was no flash used, or underwater light source.  Even if you get one good underwater shot out of 50 that’s great in certain conditions like that. She probably held her breath quite a bit to finally get this shot just right. Kudos Maddison, 1st place!

TheSunlitSlut grabs the other 1st place position for these two shots below. Check out the pic below for clear 1st place material evidence, Note she’s perfectly still, yet the shallow depth of field and wide aperture give a sense of definite motion to the shot. Our eye is drawn past the soft focus, and into the areas where it’s razor sharp. This sort of effect isn’t accidental.  Great camera work, and gorgeous modeling. Look deeeep into their eyes… Week 15 was all about eye contact. What an enormous difference eye contact makes in a pictures emotional appeal. That pretty much wraps up the whole post. Except for we should really say more about it, or these newsletters aren’t very newsy now are they?

It seems like every week finds it’s own theme around here, and this week it’s really about a girls ability to connect to  her fans with her media. When you are talking about pictures, as opposed to video- every little thing counts. The details all play into the overall mood and composition of the shot. When it comes to eye contact, nothing brings the viewer into the shot quite like it. We dare you to evaluate these pics and resist a single one of these girls.

ApplePi takes runner up position and wins some money for this minimalist shot below of just her lovely face. It really works well to do this sort of thing on white. White backdrops also allow you to drop the temperature dramatically in your white balance, and still have skin look accurate. Well done, ApplePi, congrats!

Schoolgirl69 came out of the studio with a shot that paid her back. To get an entire subject sharp like that, with the entire background completely blurred out equally you have to be X amount of feet away from your subject, with your lens set on X distance, multiplied and divided by aperture… etc. etc. It’s not easy. Even for pros. Then add the ‘modeled’ lighting, diffused, bounced, and strobed simultaneously where the light and shadows showcase each delicious curve. If you are paying for studio time, you should demand shots like these.. or walk away. If you are doing shoots trade for portfolio, then you should start paying that photographer, because shots like this will make you money no matter where you go.  Congrats Schoolgirl69. 1st place debut!

KathrynBones ala Marylin Monroe here below wins a solid first place. Not for the dramatic lighting and angle. Not for the gorgeous desaturated red. (strengths for which she’s won in the past.) Rather this shot wins for the overall effect combined with eye contact and fingers naturally falling near vulnerable places. Without the eye contact this shot would have been voyeuristic. With it, it’s a lot hotter.  She makes it look effortless, but this isn’t an accident. The art of compositional lines and confident emotional insinuation are strong in this shot.  Congrats Kathryn! 1st place.

For week 17 the winners were clear. The theme this week is composition. This is the art of making the viewers eye go exactly where you want it to go when they view your media.  It’s also the way to add drama, emotion, and sex appeal to your shots. Whenever you are thinking about that perfect angle for your shot, you are thinking about composition. Check out this post for more info on how to up your compositional game. Or just take notes from our previous winners. Rarely can a shot ever win if it isn’t composed properly.

Let’s start with CocainedBarbie. Aside from the great name, and the rare posting schedule she is on, her shots are always composed to get the maximum effect. Using her own arms and legs as leading lines, along with a strong contrasting sense of color. She rocks it every time she posts. She has made our best of page on Tumblr a couple of times already! She goes home with a runner up crown for this shot below.

KittyGirl takes our other runner up position for this shot below. This shot won on one major point. Crop. Notice how she used the crop to “squeeze” your focus exactly where she wants it? This is a rare example where actually cropping some of yourself out of the picture works, and it also goes to show that you don’t have to have professional results to win money in this contest. RubyButton scores first place for this shot below. A mundane shot of her reading a book becomes dynamic and interesting when you take into account the compositional tool called ‘leading lines’. Note how the lines of her couch, laptop, and book all conspire to keep your eyes exactly where she wants them to be. Is is witchcraft? And then there is pussycatmary.  This shot could have been taken from the pages of a fashion rag if it weren’t for the gratuitous and salacious nudity.  We loved it! She has got the pose nailed. Everything from the arch, to the toe point, butt lift,  and to the hand pose by her mouth is all pro level work.   So many little things go into making a great shot like this.  To get it all right and still look/feel sexy af takes a special kind of sexpot.
